Throughout those many years of training, and after more than 15,000 root canals and apicoectomies, I’m sustained by the thought and expression of a smiling patient saying, “Thanks, Doc, for saving my tooth.”

I never get tired of hearing that or take it for granted. It energizes me.

People come to us in distress, many in pain, sent by dentists who know when their patients need a specialist. (That’s what makes them good dentists.) We take the pain away, along with the problems that caused it. They leave us with a newly healthy tooth—the one they came in with—and they say, “Thanks, Doc.” The one they should really be thanking is the dentist who referred them, and we tell them so.

So this is our thanks to all the dentists out there who could do what we do themselves but choose not to. They know we do root canals and apicoectomies all day, every day. They appreciate our work and they want the best for their patients.

Thanks, Docs!
